Champagne Deutz Blanc de Blancs 2019 Bottle (75cl)
The 2019 Champagne Deutz Blanc de Blancs is an effervescent white champagne from Maison Deutz, crafted in Champagne exclusively from Chardonnay. James Suckling awards it 97/100. The critic describes a pure and expressive wine, driven by fine bubbles, brisk acidity, and a long citrusy finish, with nuances of linden blossom, limestone, and butter. It can be enjoyed now or cellared.

Histoire du domaine
The Deutz house was founded in Aÿ in 1838 by William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, two wine merchants originally from Aachen, in partnership with Édouard Lambry. The company initially operated under the name Lambry, Geldermann and Deutz. In the late 1860s, René Deutz and Alfred Geldermann succeeded their fathers. The company was known as Deutz and Geldermann from 1860 onwards, before undergoing several changes of name in the early 20th century, notably to Lallier-Van Cassel, Durvin and Co. in 1904 and then Lallier Successor in 1914. It reverted to the name Deutz and Geldermann in 1927. The name Deutz was adopted in 1993. On 5 July 1993, Louis Roederer acquired a 60 per cent stake in Champagne Deutz Grands Vins following a capital increase; the house then came under the control of the Rouzaud family. Deutz is now part of the Roederer Collection, and its vineyard is listed as covering 45 hectares by the Union des Maisons de Champagne. Caroline Latrive currently holds the position of cellar master, whilst Marc Hoellinger is chairman and chief executive.
