Histoire du domaine
The estate was founded in Avize in 1894 by Arthur Agrapart, who was already a winegrower and winemaker. Its development was hampered during the first half of the 20th century, particularly by the consequences of the First World War. In the 1950s and 1960s, Pierre Agrapart, the founder’s grandson and Pascal’s father, restored the estate to working order and gradually expanded the vineyard by purchasing plots of land. Pascal Agrapart joined the estate in 1980 and took over its management in the mid-1980s. From the late 1980s onwards, he shifted the vineyard management towards an approach free from synthetic herbicides and pesticides, based in particular on ploughing and compost. At the same time, the estate developed a system of vinifying each plot separately in order to distinguish the origins of its grapes. Ambroise Agrapart, Pascal’s son, joined the estate in 2018 and now works alongside his father in the vineyard and the cellar. The estate is now listed under Ambroise Agrapart’s name by *La Revue du vin de France*, whilst the estate’s communications refer to Pascal and Ambroise Agrapart as owner-growers-winemakers.
