This cool terroir has produced a tannic yet attractive wine with lots of minerality, an elegant black cherry and slightly herbaceous note, good texture, and a traditional style. It is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc. It should drink well for a decade or more. (Tasted once.)

Full bottle 1,304 g. A wine I recommended highly after tasting it en primeur so I thought I'd see how it's coming along. Now that Madame Gasqueton has died, it has been renamed Capbern by the new owners of the mother estate Ch Calon Ségur. Garnet taking on a little maroon note with a pale rim. Still-intense nose and a dry finish without much tannin in evidence. The fruit is intense and distinctly savoury. Although there isn't much tannin, this is very much a wine for food. We're going to try it with baked Vacherin tonight. It was a great buy for claret lovers.
