Histoire du domaine

The estate was founded in Vosne-Romanée in 1858, following the union of the Arnoux and Salbreux winegrowing families. It subsequently took the name Domaine Robert Arnoux when Robert Arnoux took over the estate in 1957 following the death of his father, Charles Arnoux. Robert Arnoux developed the estate’s in-house bottling operations from the late 1950s and early 1960s onwards. Following his death in February 1995, his daughter Florence Arnoux and her husband Pascal Lachaux continued to run the estate. The estate took the name Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux from the 2007 vintage onwards. Charles Lachaux joined the family business in 2011 and has been in charge of winemaking since the 2012 vintage. Under his leadership, the estate has adopted practices including biodynamics, eco-grazing, goblet pruning, higher trellising and the cessation of leaf removal. Since 2012, winemaking has been carried out using whole bunches, with short vatting periods and minimal intervention. From the 2022 harvest onwards, the estate has replaced oak barrels with stoneware vessels for ageing.

Cuvée

Pinot Fin

"Pinot Fin" is the distinctive name of the regional red Burgundy marketed by Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux. It is crafted from Pinot Noir using several plots located notably in Chambolle-Musigny, Vosne-Romanée, and Nuits-Saint-Georges. This reference is presented separately in the estate's official range under the heading "Bourgogne Pinot Fin".

Origin of the cuvée name
The name "Pinot Fin" refers to an ancient strain or selection of Pinot Noir, characterized in particular by small berries, from which the grapes for this wine predominantly originate.
Style of the cuvée
A red Burgundy seeking a fine, fruity, and precise expression of Pinot Noir, with generally delicate substance and fine tannins.
Position within the range
A regional appellation red wine, positioned at the entry level of the estate's hierarchy of red wines.

Histoire de la cuvée

This wine was already marketed under the name Domaine Robert Arnoux before the adoption of the Arnoux-Lachaux name. Vintages dating back to at least 2003 are documented, but the exact creation date of the cuvée could not be verified.

Aromas of plums and wild berries mingle with hints of raw cocoa and spices, introducing the 2018 Bourgogne Pinot Fin, a medium to full-bodied, charming and enveloping wine, its fleshy core of fruit framed by powdery, melting tannins. Cropped at a modest 32 hectoliters per hectare, this is Lachaux's highest-yielding cuvée in the 2018 vintage.

A blend of seven plots in Chambolle, Vosne and Nuits-St-Georges – about half of the fruit is from Chambolle. 100% whole bunch. 34 hl/ha (lower than in 2017). 10,000 bottles produced (8,500 in 2019). Lightish cherry red. Scented nose with lively fruit but savoury rather than sweet. Succulent, supple and with generous and fresh fruit. Gentle and persistent. Mouth-watering. Really polished but natural (in the general sense of the word, ie authentic) at the same time. Seems effortless. You could drink this now though it does have a fine backbone and a refreshing dry texture on the finish.
