The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Cuvée 1859 from Domaine Trapet is a red Burgundy Village wine made from 100% Pinot Noir. This cuvée comes from the lieu-dits En Dérée and Champérier in the heart of the Brochon hillside; these parcels form the estate's oldest property, acquired on October 23, 1859. Created as a tribute to this family history, the cuvée has been trained on stakes (échalas) since 2019 to precisely express its place of origin. The Wine Advocate awards it 90-92/100, describing a bouquet of raspberry, blackberry, rose, violet and spices, leading into a satin-textured, ample and layered palate with refined tannins and a spicy finish.
