Histoire du domaine
Michèle and Patrice Rion founded the estate in 1990, whilst Patrice Rion was still winemaker and manager of the family-run Daniel Rion estate. The couple initially worked with a few plots of land they owned. In 2000, Patrice Rion set up his own business by building a winery and establishing his own company, which also began vinifying and maturing grapes purchased from other sources. Their son Maxime joined the estate in 2005 after studying viticulture and oenology in Beaune and Dijon, supplemented by work experience in Burgundy, Saint-Émilion and New Zealand. The estate now cultivates 9 hectares in the Côte de Nuits, across the communes of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny. Among these vineyards are 1.20 hectares at Les Terres Blanches, in Prémeaux-Prissey, planted with Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc. The vineyard is managed according to an organic farming approach certified by Ecocert; the estate began mass selection in 2014 and has been growing its own rootstock since 2022. Maxime Rion became managing director of Patrice Rion in February 2025 and oversees the estate’s winemaking.
Aux Réas
Aux Réas is a cadastered lieu-dit in Vosne-Romanée, authorized as a complementary geographical unit of the village AOC but not classified as Premier Cru. It is located south of the village, at the foot or lower part of the slope, as an extension of the Premier Cru Clos des Réas. A plot described by Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair features brown limestone soil, locally more clayey in its upper part, as well as a southern orientation; however, these observations cannot be generalized with certainty to the entire lieu-dit.

- Origin of the vineyard name
- "Réas" is believed to be a variation of "raies" (furrows), designating furrows or plowed and cultivated land.

- Indicative vine age
- Vines described as being approximately 40 years old during the tasting of the 2017 vintage in June 2018.
Histoire de la parcelle
Local toponymic tradition associates Aux Réas with ancient fields plowed before being planted with vines. The lieu-dit is today explicitly listed among the cadastered lieux-dits of Vosne-Romanée whose name may appear on the label; it does not appear in the regulatory list of climats eligible for the Premier Cru designation.
