Histoire du domaine
The Léo de la Gaffelière brand has its origins in the Malet Roquefort family, present at Château La Gaffelière since 1705. In 1995, Alexandre de Malet Roquefort established the négociant house Maison Malet Roquefort to distribute wines from the family estates. In 1999, along with his father Léo de Malet Roquefort, he launched Léo de la Gaffelière, presented by the house as the premier Saint-Émilion brand, with the aim of offering an accessible expression of the Bordeaux and Saint-Émilion vineyards. Groupe Bertrand Ravache acquired a 66% stake in Maison Malet Roquefort in 2011, and took full ownership in 2015 when Alexandre de Malet Roquefort sold his remaining shares to focus on the family estates. In 2016, Maison Malet Roquefort was renamed Maison Bertrand Ravache. Léo de la Gaffelière is crafted from a selection of wines sourced from partner properties: vinification is carried out at these estates, and the wines are selected following malolactic fermentation by the house oenologist and subjected to double validation before final blending.
