Histoire du domaine
The Bourdy family has been cultivating vines in the Jura since 1579 and has passed down the estate through sixteen generations. Following the phylloxera crisis, François Bourdy replanted the vines over ten years, from 1895 to 1904. In 1930, Jean Bourdy developed wine sales to embassies, laying the first foundations for their export. At the end of the 1940s, Christian Bourdy adapted the plantings for future mechanization by spacing the rows further apart. Jean-François and Jean-Philippe Bourdy then took over the family property and converted its 10 hectares to biodynamics in 2006; the estate obtained Demeter certification in 2010. Laura Bourdy returned to work in Arlay in 2018, alongside oenological training in Dijon, and then bought the estate in 2022 from her father and uncle. As the first woman to run the property alone, she represents the sixteenth generation and continues the crafting of historical cuvées, including Château-Chalon, while developing her own wines.
