Histoire du domaine

The producer identified as ‘Damoy’ is Domaine Pierre Damoy, based in Gevrey-Chambertin. The estate’s origins date back to the early 20th century, when Julien Damoy, a Parisian entrepreneur with a background in the grocery trade, acquired vineyards in the wake of the phylloxera crisis. A significant acquisition took place in 1920 with the takeover of vineyards from the former Serre estate in Meursault, which included, in particular, plots of the Chambertin Clos de Bèze. In 1936, Julien Damoy acquired Le Tamisot, an estate comprising the vineyard plot now known as Clos Tamisot. The estate was subsequently passed down through the Damoy family. Pierre Damoy, Julien Damoy’s great-great-grandson, took over the management of the estate in 1992 and personally oversees the winemaking process. The estate also began operating as a wine merchant in 2007. Its vineyards cover 10.5 hectares, including around 8 hectares of grand cru vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin. On 24 July 2026, Louis Roederer announced the completion of the acquisition of Domaine Pierre Damoy, which has now been incorporated into the Roederer Collection.

Parcelle & terroir

Chambertin-Clos-de-Bèze

Chambertin-Clos de Bèze is a physically delimited Grand Cru appellation whose parcel area corresponds exclusively to the "Clos de Bèze" lieu-dit in Gevrey-Chambertin. The terroir occupies an east-facing hillside, with piedmont plots at the heart of a small amphitheater. The shallow, well-draining, carbonated clay-limestone soils combine scree, clays, and red silts. They primarily overlie a Bajocian substratum of crinoidal limestone and marly levels.

Histoire de la parcelle

Clos de Bèze has been known since the 7th century, and the BIVB dates its entry into history to 640 as a monastic property of the Abbaye de Bèze. It was transferred to the Chapter of Langres in the early 13th century, then remained in the hands of the canons until the French Revolution, when it was divided among multiple owners. The Chambertin-Clos de Bèze appellation d'origine contrôlée was recognized by the decree of July 31, 1937; its delimited parcel area corresponds exclusively to the lieu-dit Clos de Bèze.
