Histoire du domaine
The estate’s family history dates back to the late 18th century, with the Lamarche family’s presence in Vosne-Romanée documented as early as 1797. The estate took on its modern form in the early 20th century under the leadership of Henri Lamarche. In 1933, Édouard Lamarche acquired the ‘La Grande Rue’ vineyard and presented it to his nephew Henri on the occasion of his marriage to Aline Demur. This plot, situated between La Tâche and Romanée-Conti, has remained the exclusive property of the Lamarche family ever since. In 1959, a land exchange with the Romanée-Conti estate helped to define its boundaries. Long marketed as a Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru, La Grande Rue was recognised as a Grand Cru appellation by decree on 2 July 1992. Henri Lamarche subsequently passed the estate on to his son François. Following François Lamarche’s death in 2013, his daughter Nicole took over the work in the vineyard and the winemaking, with the support of her cousin Nathalie Lamarche for administrative and commercial matters. The estate has borne Nicole Lamarche’s name on its labels since the 2019 vintage. The vines have been cultivated using certified organic methods since 2010.
La Grande Rue
La Grande Rue is a physically delineated climat of Vosne-Romanée, which also constitutes a Grand Cru controlled designation of origin reserved for red wines. This monopole forms a strip of vines nestled among the Grand Crus of Vosne-Romanée, notably between Romanée-Conti and La Tâche. La Grande Rue and La Tâche feature brown calcareous soils, shallow in the upper section and evolving towards deeper rendzinas further down. Their substrate consists of hard Premeaux limestone dating from the Jurassic period.

Histoire de la parcelle
The name "La Grande Rue" appears around 1450 and is the oldest lieu-dit name still in use in Vosne-Romanée. Following the confiscation and sale of its owners' property during the French Revolution, successive owners progressively reunited the adjoining plots, forming a monopole in the 19th century. The Lamarche family has been the sole owner since 1933. Long classified as a Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru, the climat was the subject of an application for recognition initiated in the early 1980s, and the AOC La Grande Rue was officially recognized by the decree of July 2, 1992.
