Domaine Jean Grivot Echezeaux 2023 Bouteille (75cl)
The 2023 Domaine Jean Grivot Échezeaux is a red Burgundy wine from the Échezeaux Grand Cru in Vosne-Romanée. Crafted from 100% Pinot Noir, it comes from the estate's Échezeaux parcel. Jancis Robinson awards it 17.5/20 and recommends drinking it between 2030 and 2040. The critic describes a medium-bodied, concentrated wine with red and black fruits, supported by a fresh acidity and a saline mineral finish.

Histoire du domaine
The Grivot family has been based in Vosne-Romanée for several generations. At the end of the 18th century, Joseph Grivot left Arcenant to settle in Burgundy, in Vosne-Romanée. The family’s wine-growing estate grew gradually throughout the 20th century. A plot in Clos de Vougeot was acquired in 1919 by Gaston Grivot. By the 1930s, the family was among the producers in Vosne-Romanée who bottled and marketed their own wines. Jean Grivot succeeded Gaston and expanded the estate by acquiring a plot of Richebourg in 1984. His son Étienne joined the business in 1982, then succeeded him in 1987 alongside his wife Marielle. Mathilde and Hubert Grivot in turn joined the family estate in 2010. Mathilde took charge of winemaking as part of the handover initiated by her parents, whilst she and Hubert now ensure the estate’s continuity within the family.
Échezeaux (Vosne Romanée)
Échezeaux is a Grand Cru appellation physically delimited within the Côte de Nuits, located entirely within the commune of Flagey-Echézeaux, between Clos de Vougeot and the Premiers Crus of Vosne-Romanée. It brings together eleven climats and features more diverse topography and soils than the neighboring Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru. The vineyard ranges in altitude from 230 meters to just over 300 meters, with a slope reaching 13% mid-slope. Bajocian marls, locally covered with scree, gravel, red alluvium, and yellowish marls, form a complex mosaic.
