Domaine Gérard Julien Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Saints-Juliens 2022 Bottle (75cl)
The 2022 Domaine Gérard Julien Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Saints-Juliens is a village-level Burgundy red wine crafted in the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation from 100% Pinot Noir. This single-parcel cuvée comes from a small plot in the Aux Saints-Juliens climat, a 6-hectare vineyard planted in 1950. It thus expresses the precise identity of a specific lieu-dit in the Côte de Nuits, within the commune of Nuits-Saint-Georges.

Aux Saints-Juliens
Aux Saints-Juliens is a wine-growing lieu-dit of approximately 5.67 ha located in the northern part of Nuits-Saint-Georges, at the foot of the slope. The BIVB lists it among the lieu-dit vineyards of the village appellation and not in the official list of Premier Cru classified climats. Estate sources describe a southwest exposure, an altitude between 230 and 250 meters, and silty soils containing limestone pebbles.

Histoire de la parcelle
Local tradition taken up by several estates associates the site with a Saint-Julien chapel built in the 6th century and subsequently disappeared. A cross is said to have been erected at its former location, on the edge of the vineyards. The current specifications for Nuits-Saint-Georges do not include Aux Saints-Juliens among the climats authorized to bear the Premier Cru designation.
