Domaine Georges Mugneret
The name Georges Mugneret historically refers to a family-run estate in Vosne-Romanée, in the Côte de Nuits. Founded around the vineyards acquired by Georges Mugneret, it was merged in 2009 to form the Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg. Histoire du domaine
Jeanne Gibourg and André Mugneret, who married in 1928, settled in Vosne-Romanée in 1930. They founded Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg in 1933, producing wines from Burgundy, Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Échezeaux, amongst others. Their only son, Georges Mugneret (1929–1988), practised as an ophthalmologist in Dijon whilst developing the family’s wine-growing business. He gradually built up Domaine Georges Mugneret by acquiring plots of land, including part of Clos de Vougeot in 1953, a premier cru in Nuits-Saint-Georges in 1971, Ruchottes-Chambertin in 1977, Les Vignes Rondes in Nuits-Saint-Georges in 1982 and Les Feusselottes in Chambolle-Musigny in 1985. Following the death of Georges Mugneret in 1988, his wife Jacqueline ensured the estate’s continuity alongside their daughters Marie-Christine and Marie-Andrée. Marie-Christine trained in oenology and joined the estate, whilst Marie-Andrée, a graduate in oenology from the University of Burgundy, joined them in 1992. The two family estates, Mugneret-Gibourg and Georges Mugneret, were merged in 2009 under the name Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg. Jacqueline then retired, and Marie-Christine and Marie-Andrée took over the running of the estate. Marie-Christine oversees the wines during their ageing and bottling, whilst Marie-Andrée is specifically responsible for the vineyard and marketing.
Ruchottes-Chambertin
Ruchottes-Chambertin is a physically delimited climat and a Grand Cru appellation in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin, comprising the lieux-dits Ruchottes du Bas and Ruchottes du Dessus. Situated on the slope above the piedmont and higher up than the Chambertin vineyard, it benefits from an eastward exposure and a moderate slope. Its shallow, stony, and highly well-draining soils rest on fractured Bathonian limestones.

Histoire de la parcelle
The name "Ruchottes" appears in the archives of Gevrey in the 16th century, and the site appears to have already been planted with vines at that time. Its reputation seems to have been established by the 18th century; in 1855, Jules Lavalle classified the upper part as a first cuvée and the lower part as a second cuvée. A judgment by the Dijon court in 1931 recognized the appellation of origin and its boundaries, and the AOC Ruchottes-Chambertin was officially recognized on July 31, 1937.
