Le Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2016 is a Burgundy red wine, classified under the Village appellation and made from 100% Pinot Noir. This cuvée highlights old vines in Gevrey-Chambertin. The 2016 vintage was marked by frost: the estate lost about 30% of its volume in its village of Gevrey-Chambertin, placing this wine in a context of reduced production.

Domaine Fourrier
Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Fourrier farms around ten hectares spread across Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Vougeot. Jean-Marie Fourrier vinifies numerous parcels separately here, including Griotte-Chambertin, Clos Saint-Jacques, Combe aux Moines, and Cherbaudes. Cuvées bearing the Domaine designation must be distinguished from those from the négociant activity commercialized under the name Jean-Marie Fourrier.

Histoire du domaine
The estate's origins date back to the 1930s, when Fernand Pernot built up a winegrowing heritage in Gevrey-Chambertin, notably including parcels in Griotte-Chambertin and Clos Saint-Jacques. Lacking a direct descendant, he gradually involved his great-nephew Jean-Claude Fourrier in the estate, then known as Pernot-Fourrier. Jean-Claude took over management in the late 1960s and assumed full responsibility after Fernand Pernot's death in 1982, expanding the family properties to Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Vougeot. His son Jean-Marie Fourrier joined the estate in 1989 and that year participated in vinification alongside Henri Jayer and Emmanuel Rouget in Vosne-Romanée. After an experience at Domaine Drouhin in Oregon in 1993, he took over sole management of the estate in 1994 at the age of 23, reducing yields, abandoning herbicides, and developing parcel-by-parcel vinification. A new winery was completed in 2007, allowing the entire harvest to be vinified at the estate. Jean-Marie works with his sister Isabelle, his wife Vicki, and more recently, his son Louis. Concurrently, he created a micro-négociant activity, whose wines are labeled Jean-Marie Fourrier to differentiate them from the cuvées originating from the family vineyard.
