Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Batard Montrachet 1990 Bouteille (75cl) ETLA
The 1990 Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Bâtard-Montrachet is a white Burgundy wine produced in Puligny-Montrachet and classified as a Grand Cru. Made from 100% Chardonnay, it originates from the Bâtard-Montrachet lieu-dit. The cuvée is crafted from parcels totaling 43.11 ares, planted between 1930 and 1986 on Callovian oolitic limestones enriched with clay and silt. The estate describes this Grand Cru as structured in its youth, evolving toward buttery, honeyed, and dried-fruit notes with a pronounced minerality.

Histoire du domaine
The Fontaine-Gagnard estate was founded in 1985 in Chassagne-Montrachet by Laurence Gagnard and her husband Richard Fontaine. Laurence is the daughter of Jacques and Marie-Josèphe Gagnard, who come from a family with a long history in local winegrowing. The estate was established using the family’s vineyards. Its vineyard now covers 12 hectares, mainly in Chassagne-Montrachet, with plots also in Volnay and Pommard. Céline Fontaine joined the business in 2007. Frédéric Robert joined her in 2018 and learnt about vineyard work and winemaking at the estate. Céline Fontaine now runs the estate and oversees the winemaking process. The operating company is currently managed by Laurence Gagnard and Céline Fontaine.
Bâtard-Montrachet (Puligny Montrachet)
Bâtard-Montrachet is both a Grand Cru appellation and a physically demarcated climat, shared between Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. It occupies the lower part of the slope, exposed mainly to the east and south-east, at around 240 to 250 metres of altitude. Its brown limestone soils are thicker and more clayey towards the foothill, with clay colluvium relatively poor in stones. The substrate consists mainly of platy limestones from the Middle Jurassic, attributed to the Callovian.

Histoire de la parcelle
The "Bâtard" climat was already distinguished from Montrachet in the 18th century, although its wines were long assimilated with those of Montrachet. A 1921 judgment consecrated the use of the name "Bâtard-Montrachet" and the local hierarchy of grand crus. The AOC was recognized by the decree of 31 July 1937; its plot area was initially demarcated in 1939, then approved by the INAO in 1988 for Chassagne-Montrachet and in 1989 for Puligny-Montrachet.
