Histoire du domaine
Le Clos des Lambrays first appears in February 1365 under the name ‘Cloux des Lambrey’ in a title deed belonging to the Abbey of Cîteaux. The vineyard belonged to the abbey during the Middle Ages, before being gradually divided up – particularly during the French Revolution – amongst more than seventy owners. The wine merchant Louis Joly acquired a significant portion of it in 1836, after which Camille and Albert Rodier continued the process of land consolidation from 1866 onwards. A major land consolidation is recorded in 1879. In 1938, the estate was passed on to Renée Cosson. In 1979, Fabien and Louis Saier bought the property together with Roland Pelletier de Chambure and undertook the restoration of the vineyards, the enclosure walls and the buildings, with Thierry Brouin as estate manager. Clos des Lambrays was officially granted Grand Cru status on 27 April 1981. Following the Saiers’ financial difficulties in the mid-1990s, Günter and Ruth Freund acquired the estate. Following the death of Günter Freund, LVMH became the owner of Domaine des Lambrays in 2014. Jacques Devauges, former estate manager at Clos de Tart, took over the management of the estate in 2019. Additional plots were incorporated into the vineyard from 2021 onwards, and the 2022 vintage is the estate’s first to be certified as organically farmed.
Le Cailleret
Le Cailleret is a Premier Cru classified climat of the Puligny-Montrachet appellation, located in the municipality of the same name and immediately adjacent to Le Montrachet on its northern side. It occupies a gentle slope; the documented walled sector features a soil about 80 cm deep combining clays, marls, and numerous small gravels. The east-facing or south-facing exposures and the altitude range from 230 to 320 meters published by the BIVB, however, concern the entire appellation and not this single climat alone. 'Clos du Cailleret' designates a walled part of the climat, and not a distinct official climat in the specifications consulted.

Histoire de la parcelle
The Puligny-Montrachet AOC was recognized on July 31, 1937. The specific parcel area allowing the 'Premier Cru' mention was approved by the INAO on May 17 and 18, 1984; the specifications explicitly list Le Cailleret among the classified climats. Certain estates have historically used the designation 'Clos du Cailleret' for enclosed parcels within the climat.
