The 2001 Domaine du Vicomte Liger Belair Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château is a village-appellation red Burgundy wine made from 100% pinot noir, produced by Domaine du Vicomte Liger Belair. This cuvée comes from Clos du Château, an emblematic parcel of the estate in Vosne-Romanée. The 2001 vintage is among the first vinifications carried out under the direct control of Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, who took over the operation of this parcel in 2000, from vine to bottle. The Wine Advocate rates it 86/100 and considers it mature, with a published drinking window of 2018 to 2020; Jancis Robinson awards it 17.5/20, with a window of 2012 to 2024. Critics describe a supple, tender wine with melted tannins, driven by ripe fruit, floral and autumnal nuances, and a generous medium-bodied texture.
