Histoire du domaine
The name Château Vray Croix de Gay appears in early 20th-century editions of Cocks and Féret, at that time spelled ‘Vraye Croix de Gay’. It is associated with the Croix de Gay, situated near the vineyards and linked to the route taken by pilgrims travelling along the paths to Santiago de Compostela. According to historical accounts reported by specialist sources, the name ‘Vraye Croix de Gay’ is said to have originated in the late 19th century from a neighbourhood dispute centred on this cross. The Guichard family acquired the estate in 1949. Following the death of Olivier Guichard in 2004, his daughter Aline Guichard and her husband Paul Goldschmidt became involved in the management of the family estates. Artémis Domaines acquired a stake in the estate in 2014, before acquiring the entire holding in 2017. In September–October 2020, Suravenir, through its subsidiary Les Terroirs de Suravenir, acquired Vray Croix de Gay along with the châteaux Siaurac and Le Prieuré. The estate has since been run by the Calon Ségur team, with Vincent Millet as technical director and guidance from oenologist Éric Boissenot. Recent sources indicate that the vineyard is certified organic.
