Histoire du domaine

The name Siran first appears in the archives in 1428, when a certain Guilhem de Siran took an oath in the church at Macau. In the 17th century, the estate was associated with the Lussignet family and subsequently the du Boscq family. At the end of the 18th century, it passed by marriage to the de La Roque-Bouillac family, and subsequently to the Toulouse-Lautrec family. On 14 January 1859, the Bordeaux wine merchant Léo Barbier acquired the estate from Jeanne Adèle de Toulouse-Lautrec. His sons-in-law, Paul and Alexandre Sollberg, subsequently took over its management. In 1885, Frédéric Miailhe, son of Lovely Sollberg, took over the management of Siran alongside his uncle Marcel Mortier; he became the sole owner in 1915 by buying out his aunts’ shares. His son, Édouard F. Miailhe, officially took over the estate in 1941, and William-Alain Miailhe subsequently regained ownership following the family division of assets in 1978. Brigitte Miailhe took over the management in 1989. Édouard Miailhe has been managing the château since 2007; Marjolaine Defrance, an oenologist and cellar master since 2016, is now the technical director.

This wine lacks fruit and richness in the mid-palate, but does exhibit attractive cherry/currant aromas intermixed with minerals and smoky oak. The finish is attenuated. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2007.
