Château Petite Eglise 2005
Château Petite Eglise 2005 is a red wine from Pomerol in Bordeaux, produced by La Petite Eglise. This second wine is associated with Château L’Église-Clinet. The blend brings together 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, a composition that combines the fleshy dominance of Merlot with the freshness provided by Cabernet Franc. This 2005 vintage thus reflects the expression of a Pomerol second wine originating from the environment of L’Église-Clinet.

La Petite Église is a Pomerol wine produced at Château L’Église-Clinet, owned by the Durantou family. Created in 1986 by Denis Durantou, this wine is produced from reserved plots, situated in particular on soils that are sandier than those of the château’s grand vin. Noémie Durantou now runs the estate alongside cellar master Olivier Gautrat.

Histoire du domaine
La Petite Église is not an independent wine estate: it is a label produced by Château L’Église-Clinet, in Pomerol. The history of the estate dates back to the plots of the Clos de l’Église, which had been owned by the ancestors of the Durantou family since the 18th century. In 1882, neighbouring plots from the Clinet estate were added to this holding, forming the basis of the current vineyard. From 1942 onwards, Pierre Lasserre took charge of the estate’s day-to-day management and marketing. The name Château L’Église-Clinet appeared for the first time on the label of the 1955 vintage. Denis Durantou took direct charge of the estate in 1983 and embarked on a restructuring of the vineyard as well as a modernisation of the winery. He created La Petite Église in 1986, conceiving it as a Pomerol made from specific plots rather than simply as a second wine. Cabernet Franc grapes were introduced into the blend from 2017 onwards. Following the death of Denis Durantou in May 2020, the estate’s continuity is ensured by his family; Noémie Durantou is the estate manager and Olivier Gautrat is the cellar master.
