Liban - Gaston Hochar - Château Musar Blanc - Bekaa Valley - Lebanon 2009 Bouteille (75cl)
Château Musar Blanc 2009 is a Lebanese white wine from the Bekaa Valley, crafted by Château Musar, owned by the Hochar family. It brings together the native grape varieties Obaideh and Merwah, in a blend consisting of two-thirds Obaideh and one-third Merwah. The 2009 vintage was fermented and then aged for nine months, partly in oak barrels and partly in stainless steel vats. It develops an expansive and ripe profile, marked by yellow fruits, quince, apricot, pineapple, dried fruits, and almond, underpinned by balancing freshness.

Château Musar
Founded in 1930 and still managed by the Hochar family, Château Musar crafts its wines in Ghazir from vineyards primarily located in the Bekaa Valley. The estate farms 220 hectares and is particularly renowned for its Château Musar Blanc, produced from the Lebanese grape varieties Merwah and Obaideh. Winemaking, now under the technical direction of Tarek Sakr, remains true to the low-intervention approach developed by Serge Hochar.

Histoire du domaine
Château Musar was founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar, who returned to Lebanon after a stay in Bordeaux. During the Second World War, his encounter with Major Ronald Barton of Châteaux Langoa-Barton and Léoville-Barton strengthened the family's ties with the Bordeaux tradition. In 1959, his son Serge Hochar took charge of winemaking while studying oenology in Bordeaux under Émile Peynaud and Jean Ribéreau-Gayon. His brother Ronald joined the company in 1962 to manage financial and commercial operations. Despite the Lebanese Civil War from 1975 to 1990, the family maintained harvests and production, with the exception of the 1976 vintage which could not be produced; in 1982, part of the Bekaa vineyards even found themselves on the front line. International recognition accelerated after the presentation of the wines at the 1979 Bristol Wine Fair. Serge Hochar died accidentally in 2014. The third generation has since continued the family business: Gaston Hochar manages the daily operations of the estate, Marc Hochar handles commercial development, while Tarek Sakr, a long-time collaborator, holds technical responsibility for winemaking.
