Histoire du domaine
Depending on the estate, the origins of the wine can be traced back to the 15th century. In 1762, François de Péguilhan, Marquis de Terme, received the property as part of his wife’s dowry, Élisabeth de Ledoulx d’Emplet, and named it after her. Thomas Jefferson listed it amongst his favourites in 1787. The château was classified as a fourth cru in the official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification. In the 19th century, it belonged to the Swedish Solberg family, whilst Thomas Feuillerat and subsequently his son Jean managed the estate. Jean Feuillerat subsequently acquired the estate at the end of the 19th century, following the Solberg family’s financial ruin. The 1929 crisis left the estate in a precarious position; following the death of Armand Feuillerat in 1934, it was purchased in 1935 by Pierre Sénéclauze, a wine merchant from Oran. The Sénéclauze family has remained the owners ever since. Ludovic David managed the château from 2009 to 2024, before Paloma Sénéclauze, representing the fourth generation of the family, took over as managing director. In 2026, Solana Rey Siceles became cellar master and oversaw the winemaking process, alongside technical director Sébastien Esquerre.
