Histoire du domaine
Malescasse wines are recorded in the annals of Bordeaux wine merchants from the early 19th century onwards. The neoclassical château was built in Lamarque in 1824 by the Renouil family. In 1970, Guy Tesseron acquired the estate; at the time, he was also managing the châteaux Lafon-Rochet and Pontet-Canet. Together with his son Alfred, he undertook the restoration of the buildings and the replanting of the vineyard. By 1992, the estate had regained a vineyard area of 40 hectares when it was sold to the Alcatel-Alsthom group. The latter sold Château Malescasse in 2012 to Philippe Austruy, who incorporated it into Vignobles Austruy. The winery, vineyard and charterhouse then underwent renovation and restructuring. Bertrand Chemin, who took over as technical director in the mid-2000s, is the estate’s cellar master. Château Malescasse is classified as a ‘Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel’ in the 2025 classification of the Médoc’s Crus Bourgeois.
