Château Les Grandes Murailles
Château Les Grandes Murailles refers to a former estate in Saint-Émilion, whose two hectares of Merlot on clay-limestone soils were situated at the foot of the medieval ruins of Les Grandes Murailles. Acquired by the Cuvelier family in 2013, this vineyard was incorporated into Clos Fourtet from the 2022 harvest onwards; it is therefore no longer vinified or marketed as a separate estate.

Histoire du domaine
The Château Les Grandes Murailles vineyard is situated in the village of Saint-Émilion, at the foot of the ruins of the former Dominican convent known as Les Grandes Murailles. The Reiffers family, who have been based in Saint-Émilion since the 17th century, have managed the estate since the mid-19th century. Sophie Fourcade, née Reiffers, subsequently took charge of its management as part of the family’s holdings. The château was listed amongst the grands crus classés in the Saint-Émilion classification approved in 2012. The Cuvelier family acquired Château Les Grandes Murailles in 2013. At that time, the vineyard covered approximately two hectares, planted with Merlot. After several years of management by the Clos Fourtet team, the INAO approved the integration of these plots into Clos Fourtet with effect from the 2022 harvest. Since then, grapes from Les Grandes Murailles have been included in the Clos Fourtet blend, and the château is no longer an independent production entity.
