Histoire du domaine
Jean-Philippe Janoueix, son of Jean-François Janoueix and descendant of a family from Corrèze established in the Libourne vineyards, created Château La Confession in 2001 by uniting the former châteaux Barreau and Haut-Pontet. The estate is established in the lieu-dit Haut-Pontet, at the gates of the village of Saint-Émilion. The vineyard, the surface area of which has evolved over time, now reaches 7.5 hectares according to the official website of Domaines Jean-Philippe Janoueix. The work carried out on the soils and the vineyard has accompanied the affirmation of the cru's identity, recognized as a Grand Cru Classé in the Saint-Émilion classification published in September 2022. Public information consulted identifies Jean-Philippe Janoueix as owner and winemaker, but does not allow the current role of cellar master to be attributed with certainty to a named individual.
