Histoire du domaine
The documented history of Château L'Enclos begins at the end of the 19th century, when Pierre Larroucaud brought together several family parcels in the hamlet of Grand Moulinet and had a residence built, surrounded by the vat room, cellars, and storehouses. The property's name comes from a parcel called "Enclos". The estate quickly gained a certain reputation, notably winning a silver medal at the Paris Agricultural Show in 1892, and then at the Antwerp Exhibition in 1894. It remained in the hands of the descendants of the founding family until its acquisition in 2007 by Americans Denise and Stephen Adams, who already owned Château Fonplégade in Saint-Émilion. The new owners undertook replanting and adapted the winery equipment for parcel-by-parcel vinification. The vineyard obtained organic certification in 2017. Stephen Adams passed away on March 14, 2024; Denise Adams is now listed as the owner of the cru, whose cellar is under the responsibility of Romain Gonzalez.
