Histoire du domaine
The history of Château de Pommard dates back to 1726, when Vivant Micault inherited part of the vineyard and had the first Regency-style château built with his wife, Catherine Nugues. In 1763, Claude Marey acquired the estate, marking the beginning of the Marey family’s ownership. In 1795, the marriage of Nicolas-Joseph Marey to Jeanne-Charlotte-Émilie Monge established the Marey-Monge dynasty. Following the sale of the château in 1797, the buildings and the vineyard remained separate until they were reunited in 1936. That year, Jean and Nadine Laplanche became the owners and remained so until 2003. Maurice Giraud subsequently acquired the property and undertook extensive restoration work. Michael and Julie Baum, of the Carabello-Baum family, took over Château de Pommard in 2014. The conversion of the Clos Marey-Monge to organic and then biodynamic farming began in 2016; the estate obtained organic certification in 2019 and Demeter certification in 2021. Paul Negrerie is now the cellar master, alongside Jean-Rémi Fray, who is in charge of the vineyards.
