Histoire du domaine
Château Croque-Michotte forms part of the history of the wine estates in the north-western sector of Saint-Émilion. After being attached to Château La Marzelle in the 19th century, the estate was separated from that property between 1886 and 1891 and subsequently passed to the Dubois family. Samuel Geoffrion, a wine and cognac merchant, acquired it in 1906. Following his death, his daughter Hélène Geoffrion-Rigal took over the management of the estate. The château was listed amongst the Grands Crus Classés in the first Saint-Émilion classification of 1955 and retained this status until the 1986 classification. The GFA Geoffrion, comprising Hélène Geoffrion-Rigal and her descendants, was established in 1986. Pierre Carle, Samuel Geoffrion’s great-grandson, subsequently took charge of the technical management of the estate and oversaw the winemaking process for several decades. The vineyard is managed according to the principles of organic farming, and the estate’s historic website indicates that it has held Ecocert certification since 1999. In March 2023, Château La Pointe acquired Croque-Michotte; Pierre Carle remained a minority shareholder, whilst La Pointe’s technical team, led by Éric Monneret, took over the management of the estate.
