Histoire du domaine
In the 18th century, Clos l’Église formed part of a vineyard estate covering approximately 14 hectares, which was then one of the major estates in Pomerol. This estate was divided up during a succession, giving rise in particular to Clos l’Église and L’Église-Clinet. In 1925, Clos l’Église featured in an unofficial classification of Pomerol wines drawn up by Savinien Giraud, president of the Pomerol Wine and Agricultural Association. The estate was acquired in 1997 by Sylviane Garcin-Cathiard. It was subsequently entrusted to her daughter, Hélène Garcin-Lévêque, and her husband Patrice Lévêque, who now manage it. Hélène Garcin-Lévêque has also been managing director of the civil partnership Clos L’Église since 25 February 2023. The vineyard is planted mainly with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and Patrice Lévêque is responsible for the winemaking process.
