Histoire du domaine
The origins of Château Citran date back to the 13th century, when the Donissan de Citran family ruled this seigneury in the Médoc. They retained ownership of the estate until 1832, when the last heiress sold it to Mr Clauzel. He redesigned the layout of the property. The medieval château was replaced by the current building, constructed between 1862 and 1864 whilst retaining the moat. The Miailhe family acquired the estate in 1945 and undertook the restoration of the property, which they owned until 1987. A Japanese group subsequently took over the château and carried out further work on it. The Merlaut family took the reins at Citran from 1996, after which the property became part of the Taillan Group in 1997. The château, its farm buildings and its grounds have been listed as historic monuments since 2012. Today, the vineyard covers 100 hectares within the Haut-Médoc appellation.
