Histoire du domaine
The documented history of Charmail dates back to the 16th century and the buildings of the former seigneury of Bardis. The Trevey family inherited Bardis in 1612 and their descendants remained the owners until the 18th century. Winegrowing has been practised on these lands since that time. The buildings and owners then changed over the centuries, whilst the château featured on the current label was built in 1865 by Mr Boyer, of the Verdus estate. After several owners, including the Fabiani and Laly families, Olivier Sèze took over around ten hectares in 1982 and set about developing the vineyard. Bernard d’Halluin acquired Château Charmail in 2008 and bought six hectares of the original vineyard; he remained the sole owner until 2021. Sébastien Pineau, who joined the estate in 2007, gradually took charge of technical management and winemaking. In 2021, the Goudet-Liquard family, led by Valérie Liquard alongside Vivien Liquard, joined forces with Bernard d’Halluin. The vineyard now comprises 55 hectares in a single block.
