Histoire du domaine
The von Neipperg family has been involved in winegrowing in Germany since the 13th century. In the early 19th century, the estate was known as La Gaffelière-Boitard, named after its owner at the time. In 1971, Count Joseph-Hubert von Neipperg acquired Château Canon La Gaffelière and La Mondotte. His son, Stephan von Neipperg, took over the management of the estates in 1985. Under his leadership, the estate adopted a management approach based more on observing the terroirs and seeking a balance within the ecosystems. This environmental approach was further strengthened from the late 1990s onwards. The 2014 vintage was the château’s first to be certified as organic by the FR-BIO-10 organisation. In March 2021, Ludovic von Neipperg joined the family business as technical director. Stephan von Neipperg remains the manager of the family’s Bordeaux estates.
