Histoire du domaine
Domaine Benoît Ente is part of the history of the family vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet, part of which originated with Benoît Ente’s grandparents. Benoît Ente joined the family estate in 1990 and worked alongside his aunt; at that time, the harvest was sold as must to Louis Latour. In 1997, following the reorganisation of the family estate, the vineyards were divided between Benoît Ente and his brother Arnaud. Benoît Ente began his independent venture with the 1998 vintage and released his first bottles from the 1999 vintage onwards. After his aunt ceased operations in 2013, he also took over the vines she had been tending, gradually expanding the estate to around 6 hectares. The current vineyard comprises 23 plots, mainly in the commune of Puligny-Montrachet. The Chassagne-Montrachet plot, originally planted with Pinot Noir, was replanted with Chardonnay by Benoît Ente in 2005. Benoît Ente now runs the winery and oversees the winemaking, whilst the estate is presented to the public alongside Coralie Ente.
Les Houillères
Les Houillères is a Village-level climat located north of Chassagne-Montrachet, near the border with Puligny-Montrachet and close to the grand crus. The Climats de Bourgogne dossier identifies it in cadastral section AH of Chassagne-Montrachet. Producer sources describe a clay-limestone terroir situated between 230 and 250 meters of altitude. The southern exposure indicated by Morey-Coffinet concerns its 0.82-hectare plot and is therefore not generalized to the entire climat.

Histoire de la parcelle
Les Houillères appears as a lieu-dit or climat of Chassagne-Montrachet in the application dossier for the Climats of the Burgundy vineyard, based on the 1966 cadastre. Its name, formerly associated with the dampness of the ground, is still used as a complementary geographical denomination for wines under the AOC Chassagne-Montrachet Village appellation.
