Histoire du domaine
Domaine Arlaud traces its origins to 1942, when Renée Amiot, from Burgundy, married Joseph Arlaud, originally from Ardèche. Vines formed part of their wedding trousseau, and Joseph Arlaud gradually expanded the vineyard from 1949 onwards. In 1966, the couple acquired a historic 14th-century cellar in Nuits-Saint-Georges, intended for ageing the wines; it has featured on the estate’s labels ever since. Hervé Arlaud succeeded his father in 1983 and expanded the vineyard with his wife Brigitte. Their children Cyprien, Romain and Bertille subsequently joined the business, with the family working together from 2004 to 2012. A new winery, designed to operate using gravity, was built in 2003 in Morey-Saint-Denis. In 2004, the entire vineyard under cultivation at the time was converted to organic farming, and horse-drawn ploughing was introduced on some of the plots. Organic certification was obtained in 2010. Cyprien Arlaud began the transition to biodynamic farming in 2009; in 2014, the estate became the first in Morey-Saint-Denis to be certified by Biodyvin. Since 2013, Cyprien Arlaud has been solely responsible for managing the family estate and overseeing the winemaking process.
Les Blanchards
Les Blanchards is an officially recognized climat for the Premier Cru designation of the AOC Morey-Saint-Denis. Located at the bottom of the slope, at the exit of the Combe de Morey, it belongs to the alluvial cone sector formed by materials transported from the combe. Available descriptions indicate clayey to silty-clay soils, moderately calcareous and relatively thin, developed on coarse alluvium and limestone pebbles.

Histoire de la parcelle
The site corresponds to the bed or passage of an ancient water flow from the Combe de Morey, whose waters transported and accumulated limestone materials. Les Blanchards appears in the regulatory list of climats that can complement the AOC Morey-Saint-Denis with the Premier Cru mention, notably in the specifications approved by the decree of December 6, 2011.
