Nicolas Joly Coulee de Serrant 2010
Nicolas Joly Coulée de Serrant 2010 is a white Savennières wine from the Loire Valley, produced by Domaine Nicolas Joly. This cuvée is crafted 100% from Chenin Blanc. It comes from the Coulée de Serrant vineyard, an exclusive monopole of the Joly family, which spans 7 hectares of slopes overlooking the Loire. Planted as early as 1130, this walled clos has been farmed biodynamically across the entire estate since 1984, with work partially carried out by hand and by horse.

Domaine Nicolas Joly
The Nicolas Joly estate, also known as Coulée de Serrant, is situated in Savennières, in Maine-et-Loire, on the right bank of the Loire. Run by the Joly family, it covers 15 hectares of Chenin Blanc spread across the Savennières, Savennières Roche-aux-Moines and Coulée de Serrant appellations. The latter, a 7-hectare family-owned monopole, constitutes an appellation in its own right; the estate has been cultivated using biodynamic methods since 1984.

Histoire du domaine
Wine-growing on the Coulée de Serrant estate is documented as far back as 1130, when Cistercian monks planted the plots near a monastery. The vineyard was then dedicated to Chenin; a few plots were planted with Verdelho in the 16th century. The monks left the property towards the end of the 17th century. In the first half of the 20th century, the Costreau family took over the estate and entrusted its management to vineyard workers. In the 1950s, the estate was sold to a former Belgian merchant seaman. Denise and Antoine Joly moved there in 1960. Their son, Nicolas Joly, took over the estate in 1978 and began developing its viticultural potential. Since 1984, the entire estate has been managed according to biodynamic principles. Nicolas Joly remains the owner, whilst his daughter Virginie Joly is now responsible for the management and winemaking at the estate.
