Dagueneau Buisson Renard 2015
The 2015 Le Dagueneau Buisson Renard is a white wine from Pouilly-Fumé in the Loire Valley, produced by Domaine Didier Dagueneau. This cuvée is 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Jancis Robinson awards it 18/20 and recommends drinking it between 2018 and 2028. Critics note a still-youthful fruit profile with candied nuances, a very precise expression, and a long, complex palate built upon a spectrum of fruit flavors rather than an overtly citrusy character.

Histoire du domaine
Didier Dagueneau established his own wine estate in Saint-Andelain in the early 1980s, having grown up in a family of winegrowers. The company Domaine Didier Dagueneau was subsequently registered in 1990. Situated on the hill of Saint-Andelain, the estate developed around plots of Sauvignon Blanc intended primarily for the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. Didier Dagueneau emphasised a plot-by-plot understanding of the terroirs and experimented with various cultivation, winemaking and ageing practices. The estate also produced a Sancerre from 2005 onwards, on the Monts Damnés hillside in Chavignol. Didier Dagueneau died in a microlight accident in September 2008, shortly before the grape harvest. His children, Louis-Benjamin and Charlotte, then ensured the estate’s continuity. Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau is now the owner and manager; he personally oversees the winemaking and ageing processes. The estate also cultivates vineyards in Jurançon under the name Les Jardins de Babylone.
Buisson Renard
Buisson Renard is a distinct cuvée from a single plot located mid-slope on the southwest-facing side of Saint-Andelain. Its terroir blends clay and flint, producing an expression that is generally fuller and fleshier than the estate's tautest cuvées, while retaining a marked mineral framework.
- Origin of the cuvée name
- The wine originally came from the Buisson Menard plot. After a journalist mistakenly wrote 'Buisson Renard', Didier Dagueneau liked this new name and adopted it for the cuvée.
- Style of the cuvée
- Dry Sauvignon Blanc, ample, profound and fleshy, characterized by a strong mineral and smoky expression of flint, a structuring acidity and an aging potential.
- Position within the range
- High-end single-plot cuvée, considered one of the estate's major expressions.
Histoire de la cuvée
The plot and wine were originally named Buisson Menard. A transcription error by a journalist turned this name into Buisson Renard; amused by this designation, Didier Dagueneau kept it for subsequent vintages.
