Histoire du domaine
The Carillon family has been established in Puligny-Montrachet since the 16th century; the estate cites Jehan Carillon as a winegrower in the village as early as 1520. The family estate was subsequently run by Louis Carillon, father of Jacques and François Carillon. Jacques Carillon worked alongside his father in winemaking from 1985 onwards, whilst his brother François was more involved in managing the vineyard. From the 2010 vintage onwards, the two brothers divided the vineyards between them and established two separate estates: Domaine Jacques Carillon and Domaine François Carillon. Jacques Carillon notably inherited plots in Puligny-Montrachet, including the Referts, Champs Canet and Perrières sectors, as well as a plot in Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet. The estate is currently managed by Jacques Carillon; the official website states that Sylvia and Jacques Carillon run it together. Vinification and ageing take place at the estate, with ageing in oak barrels on fine lees.
Champ Canet
Champ Canet is an officially recognized climat with the Premier Cru designation of the AOC Puligny-Montrachet, at the northern end of the appellation, near the border with Meursault. It is located below Les Chalumaux and notably borders the Les Combettes sector. Descriptions dedicated to the climat point out a very stony limestone terrain, mixing ochre or clay-limestone soil with numerous pebbles, as well as strong sunshine. The specifications also link the cadastral lieu-dit "La Jaquelotte ou Champ Canet" to the Champ Canet denomination.
