Italy Svetoni Brunello di Montalcino 1976 BN
The 1976 Svetoni Brunello di Montalcino is a Tuscan red wine originating from the Brunello di Montalcino appellation and crafted by Svetoni from 100% Sangiovese. This appellation is produced exclusively within the historical boundaries of the commune of Montalcino, where Sangiovese is traditionally called Brunello. This 1976 vintage thus expresses the identity of a great terroir-driven Italian wine based on a single grape variety.

Histoire du domaine
Fattoria Svetoni has its origins in a ‘Leopoldina’, a type of model Tuscan farm commissioned in the late 18th century under Peter Leopold of Habsburg-Lorraine, Grand Duke of Tuscany, and completed in the mid-19th century. The Svetoni family acquired the estate shortly after Italian unification. They began producing wine there in 1865, a date recognised by the Consorzio del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano as the estate’s founding date. After several changes of ownership, the estate was notably owned by the Folonari family. It is now owned by Società Agricola Podere Rubino S.r.l., comprising Andrea Rossi, Omar Pellegrini, Giuseppe Prencipe and Alessandro Maiocchi. Sources differ on the exact year of Podere Rubino’s acquisition, with the estate’s website stating 2016 and professional and consortium publications citing 2017. The vineyard currently under cultivation covers 23 hectares, in the Gracciano and Cervognano areas. Roberto Da Frassini is listed as the oenologist and head of winemaking by the Consorzio del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
