Histoire du domaine
Castello di Ama was founded in 1976 by four families from Rome, who set about restoring a vineyard that had been neglected following the end of sharecropping in the 1960s. The revival brought together Tomaso Carini, Gianvittorio Cavanna, Lionello Sebasti and Pietro Tradico. Before 1980, the partners had replanted a large part of the vineyard and built a modern fermentation cellar. The first vintage of the Vigneto Bellavista selection was produced in 1978. Marco Pallanti joined the estate in 1982 to lay its technical foundations and continues to serve as managing director and oenologist. During the 1980s, the estate developed several single-vineyard selections, including San Lorenzo, La Casuccia and Bertinga, whilst also experimenting with Merlot in particular, which gave rise to L’Apparita. Lorenza Sebasti, daughter of Lionello Sebasti, joined the company in 1988 and became managing director in 1993. Since the 1990s, the estate has continued to restructure its vineyards and expand its winery. In 1999, Castello di Ama launched a contemporary art project in the village of Ama. Recent public sources identify Lorenza Sebasti and Marco Pallanti as the owners of the estate.

Histoire de la cuvée
Following terroir study work initiated in 1978, Castello di Ama created Vigneto La Casuccia with the 1985 vintage. The estate presents it as its first blend resulting from the separate harvest of three Sangiovese and Merlot plots, as part of the Chianti Classico selections that helped establish its cru approach during the 1980s.
