Histoire du domaine
The journey of Icario began in 1999 in Montepulciano with a project combining Vino Nobile production, contemporary architecture, art, and design. The estate was initially developed by the Cecchetti family, starting from a wine-growing core of a few hectares. In 2015, the Rothenberger family acquired Icario, which became part of the Dr. Helmut Rothenberger Holding based in Salzburg; they subsequently undertook investments in the vineyards, the cellar, and hospitality at the estate. The property now covers 56 hectares, including 27 hectares dedicated to vines, spread across the hillsides of Pietrose situated between 300 and 450 meters of altitude. Franco Bernabei, a renowned Sangiovese specialist, is currently the estate's oenologist.
