Histoire du domaine
Coming from a farming family in the Yakima Valley, Mike Hogue planted a small Riesling plot of about seven acres in 1979 on the family farm in Prosser. He founded Hogue Cellars in 1982 and set up the first winery in a former agricultural machinery workshop. A Cabernet Sauvignon produced in 1983 won the Best in Show title at the Atlanta International Wine Festival in 1985, an accolade that greatly contributed to the estate's renown and development. Having become one of Washington State's leading wine companies, Hogue Cellars was sold by the Hogue family to the Canadian group Vincor International in 2001. Constellation Brands subsequently took control of the brand during the acquisition of Vincor in 2006, before selling it to E. & J. Gallo Winery as part of a transaction finalized on January 5, 2021. In April 2024, Ackley Brands acquired Hogue Cellars and Columbia Winery from Gallo. Public sources consulted do not reliably attribute to Hogue Cellars any owned vineyard acreage, individualized annual production, or current winemaking manager.
