Domaine Drouhin Laroze Bonnes Mares 2003 Magnum (150cl) ELA
The 2003 Domaine Drouhin Laroze Bonnes-Mares is a red Burgundy wine produced in the Bonnes-Mares climat, within the Chambolle-Musigny appellation and classified as a Grand Cru. Made from 100% Pinot Noir, it combines the concentration of the vintage with the depth of a great Burgundian Grand Cru. Jancis Robinson awards it 18.5/20 and recommended drinking it between 2008 and 2018. Critics describe a vegetal and meaty nose, accented by notes of mocha, along with a very rich, dense, and structured palate.

Histoire du domaine
The estate traces its origins back to 1850, when Jean-Baptiste Laroze established a vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin. His son, Félix Laroze, succeeded him. In 1919, Suzanne Laroze, Félix’s daughter, married Alexandre Drouhin, then the owner of vineyards in Chambolle-Musigny. The merger of the Laroze and Drouhin estates gave rise to Domaine Drouhin-Laroze. Successive generations expanded the vineyard by acquiring plots on the hillsides. Philippe Drouhin, son of Christiane and Bernard Drouhin, joined the estate in 1974 after completing his training at the Beaune wine school. He has been the owner and manager since 2001. The estate is now run by Philippe and Christine Drouhin, alongside Caroline and Nicolas Drouhin; Nicolas is responsible for the running of the estate and the winemaking process in collaboration with his father.
Bonnes-Mares
Bonnes-Mares is a physically delineated Grand Cru of the Côte de Nuits, split between Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis, with the largest portion located in Chambolle-Musigny. The vineyard forms approximately a rectangle south of Clos de Tart, on a gently sloping hillside with an easterly exposure. The light, gravelly, brown to reddish soils containing clay with flint rest on Jurassic limestone and white marl.
