Histoire du domaine
The history of Puech-Haut is linked to Gérard Bru, an industrialist from the Hérault region whose grandfather was a winegrower and whose father served as steward of the École nationale supérieure d’agronomie de Montpellier. In the late 1970s, Gérard Bru began acquiring land at a place known as Puech-Haut, in Saint-Drézéry, which was then mainly covered by scrubland and olive groves. He gradually planted vines there, whilst the first harvests were delivered to the local cooperative winery. After selling off his other industrial businesses, he devoted himself to developing the estate. The first vintage marketed under the name Puech-Haut was the 1994 vintage. The vineyard subsequently expanded through acquisitions and the consolidation of properties, notably with the incorporation of Château Lavabre in 2016 and Mas de Theyron in 2017. The official website now presents Puech-Haut as a group comprising three estates: Château Puech-Haut, Château Lavabre and Domaine de Theyron. In September 2024, Arnaud Demongeot, the estate’s long-standing business partner, became associate managing director and co-shareholder. Gérard Bru subsequently stepped back from day-to-day operations, whilst stating that he and his children would remain owners.
