Histoire du domaine
Château Pédesclaux was founded in 1810 by the Bordeaux broker Pierre-Urbain Pédesclaux, using plots of land acquired after the French Revolution. The vineyard expanded significantly with the incorporation of plots from Grand-Puy-Lacoste. The estate was classified as a fifth growth of the Médoc in 1855. In 1891, the Pédesclaux family sold the estate to Gabriel de Gastebois. His heirs retained ownership until 1951, when Lucien Jugla, who had been managing it since 1930, acquired it. The Jugla family remained the owners until the château was sold to the Lorenzetti family in 2009. Since this acquisition, the vineyard has been restructured and expanded with new plots. A new, entirely gravity-fed winery, designed by Jean-Michel Wilmotte, was completed in 2014. The estate is now run by the Lorenzetti family; Stéphanie Roposte serves as the estate’s cellar master.
