Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge 2005 magnum
The Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2005 is a red wine from the Rhône Valley produced by Château de Beaucastel, owned by Jean-Pierre and François Perrin. Its blend brings together equal parts of Grenache and Mourvèdre (30% each), completed by Counoise and Syrah (10% each), Cinsault (5%) and various other grape varieties. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified separately: Mourvèdre and Syrah in truncated oak foudres, Grenache in traditional concrete vats, followed by blending and a year of aging in oak foudres. The 2005 vintage benefited from cool summer nights and the Mistral wind, favoring maturity and the preservation of acidity. Wine Spectator awards it 96/100 (2011-2030), The Wine Advocate 95/100 (2017-2035) and Jancis Robinson 18/20 (2011-2020). Critics describe a dense and structured wine, blending dark fruit, spices, licorice, earthy notes and a silky texture.

Histoire du domaine
The first records of the estate date back to 1549, when Pierre de Beaucastel acquired a barn and land at a place known as Coudoulet. A manor house was subsequently built on the estate. In 1687, a descendant of the same name was appointed by Louis XIV as captain of the town of Courthézon. After several centuries in existence, the estate was acquired in 1909 by Pierre Tramier. He subsequently passed Beaucastel on to his son-in-law, Pierre Perrin, who helped to modernise it. Jacques Perrin continued to develop the estate until 1978. His sons, Jean-Pierre and François Perrin, then took over. The fifth generation of the Perrin family is now involved in running the estate. The Beaucastel vineyard covers 130 hectares, 100 of which are situated within the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. A new winery, spearheaded by the fifth generation, was inaugurated in May 2025.
