Histoire du domaine
Alain Chabanon does not come from a family of winegrowers: he initially studied agronomy in Bordeaux before specialising in oenology. Work placements and experience with industry professionals, notably with Alain Brumont in Madiran, in Corsica and later as manager of a cooperative winery in the Gard, led him to choose a career as a winegrower. In the early 1990s, he acquired his first vineyards around Montpeyroux. His first vintage was produced in 1992. The estate was built up around old vines and plots situated across five communes in the vicinity of Lagamas and Montpeyroux. Alain Chabanon has gradually increased production, reporting that it has risen from 2,000 to 50,000–60,000 bottles over twenty-five years. The estate obtained organic farming certification in 2002. It subsequently adopted biodynamic farming, achieving Demeter certification from the 2011 harvest onwards. Alain Chabanon remains at the helm of the estate and oversees the winemaking process personally.
