Château Lagrange Saint Julien 2007
Château Lagrange 2007 is a red wine from Saint-Julien, 3rd Grand Cru Classé in 1855, produced by Château Lagrange, a property of Suntory. It is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, and 7% Petit Verdot. Originating from a single-piece vineyard spread across two gravel ridges, this great wine is vinified parcel by parcel and then aged for 16 to 20 months in oak barrels, 60% of which are new. The estate describes a complex bouquet with smoky, graphite, licorice, cassis, and menthol nuances, supported by a lively palate with integrated tannins. Its indicated drinking window extends from 2012 to 2035.

Histoire du domaine
The first recorded mention of vineyards on the estate dates back to 1511. Lagrange’s reputation as a wine-producing estate began to flourish particularly from the 17th century onwards. Count Tanneguy Duchâtel owned the estate from 1842 to 1874; during this period, he expanded the property and modernised its facilities. Château Lagrange was classified as a third growth in 1855. The Cendoya family took ownership in 1925. In 1983, Keizo Saji acquired the château on behalf of the Suntory Group. Suntory then embarked on a programme to restructure the vineyard and renovate the technical buildings and cellars, working with Marcel Ducasse, followed by Kenji Suzuta and Keiichi Shiina. Matthieu Bordes, the estate’s managing director and oenologist, continues this work today with his team. Benjamin Vimal is the technical director and Stéphane Leboucher is the cellar master.
