Histoire du domaine
André-Michel Pierlot, a former cooper and bottler, settled in Tours-sur-Marne in 1812 as a Champagne wine merchant. His son Alphonse succeeded him, then passed the business on to his cellar master, Eugène Laurent. Following Eugène Laurent’s death in 1887, his widow, Mathilde-Émilie Perrier, took over the business and renamed it Veuve Laurent-Perrier. In 1889, she launched a ‘Grand Vin Sans Sucre’ (sugar-free fine wine), aimed in particular at British customers. Her daughter, Eugénie-Hortense Laurent, took over in 1925 and sold the estate in 1939. That same year, Marie-Louise de Nonancourt acquired Laurent-Perrier. Her son, Bernard de Nonancourt, took over the management of the house in 1948, having trained in viticulture and winemaking. He subsequently expanded the business and founded the Laurent-Perrier Group in 1983. The group is now controlled by the de Nonancourt family, who held 65.17 per cent of the share capital as at 31 March 2026. Olivier Vigneron, who joined Laurent-Perrier in 2004, became the house’s fourth cellar master in 2025.
Grand Siècle

- 1959
- Style of the cuvée
- A champagne for long-term ageing that seeks the balance between aromatic intensity and complexity, persistent freshness, acidity, finesse, and elegance.
- Position within the range
- The prestige cuvée of Laurent-Perrier, presented as the pinnacle of its art of blending.
Histoire de la cuvée
In 1948, Bernard de Nonancourt decided to create a prestige cuvee based on the blending of several years rather than a single vintage. The first iteration was born in 1959 from the blend of the 1955, 1953, and 1952 vintages. Since then, each new blend has been identified as an "iteration" of Grand Siècle.
