Histoire du domaine
Olivier Jullien founded Mas Jullien in Jonquières in 1985. The estate began with three hectares of old vines and produced its first vintage whilst its founder was still completing his training. Olivier Jullien built the original cellar himself and vinified his first harvest using deliberately simple equipment. In 1989, he conducted an experiment in sulphur-free vinification and ageing, an endeavour that characterised his early years of research. Over time, he developed the vineyard layout and grape varieties through the purchase and sale of vines, whilst seeking to maintain a limited area under cultivation. He states that he sold nearly ten hectares in 2003 and 2004, before reacquiring certain vineyards previously associated with Mas Cal Demoura, which his father had established. The estate now cultivates around 18 hectares and produces red, white and rosé wines. Olivier Jullien remains both the owner of Mas Jullien and directly responsible for its winemaking.
