Loire Stéphane Bernaudeau Les Nourrissons 2014 Bottle (75cl)
Les Nourrissons 2014 by Stéphane Bernaudeau is a Vin de France white wine made from Chenin Blanc in the Loire Valley. This cuvée comes from a small parcel in the Martigné-Briand sector of Anjou, planted with vines in 1910. It expresses the unique identity of the estate's Chenins, produced on a small scale. The 2014 vintage thus highlights a parcel-specific, Loire-focused interpretation of Chenin Blanc under the Vin de France designation.

Stéphane Bernaudeau
In Martigné-Briand, in the Layon region, Stéphane Bernaudeau single-handedly farms approximately 3.5 hectares primarily dedicated to Chenin Blanc. His single-plot wines, notably Les Nourrissons, Les Terres Blanches, and Les Onglés, originate from terroirs situated where the schists of Anjou noir meet the clay-limestone soils of Anjou blanc. Production, at around 6,000 bottles per year, remains extremely limited.

Histoire du domaine
After training in forestry, Stéphane Bernaudeau joined Mark Angeli at Ferme de la Sansonnière in the 1990s, where he gained extensive experience in viticulture and vinification. In November 1999, Éric Calcutt transferred Les Nourrissons to him—a 71-are and 24-centiare plot located in the lieu-dit Mihoudy, in the commune of Aubigné-sur-Layon, planted with Chenin Blanc in 1910 on phylladic schist. Stéphane Bernaudeau produced his first vintage in 2000 while continuing to work alongside Mark Angeli for nearly twenty years in total. He left La Sansonnière in December 2015 to dedicate himself entirely to his own estate, established in Cornu, near Martigné-Briand. His vineyard has gradually expanded around small Chenin Blanc plots, including Les Terres Blanches and Les Onglés, the latter of which has been farmed by the estate since 2014. Stéphane Bernaudeau single-handedly manages the cultivation of some 3.5 hectares as well as the crafting of an annual production approaching 6,000 bottles.
Les Nourrissons
Les Nourrissons is a single-plot dry Chenin Blanc originating from very old vines planted in 1910 near Martigné-Briand. Marketed distinctively under the plot's name, this wine is the estate's emblematic cuvée and is now classified as a Vin de France.
- Origin of the cuvée name
- The name comes from the Les Nourrissons plot from which the cuvée is produced.
- Cuvée creation year
- 2000
- Style of the cuvée
- A deep, dense, and structured dry Chenin Blanc, characterized by strong tension, a distinct texture, and a mineral and saline expression. Its profile is generally built for cellaring rather than immediate accessibility.
- Position within the range
- An emblematic and benchmark single-plot cuvée at the pinnacle of the estate's exclusive range.
Histoire de la cuvée
In 2000, Stéphane Bernaudeau took over the Les Nourrissons plot, previously farmed by Éric Calcutt, and produced his first vintage under his own name that same year. This single-plot cuvée thus marks the origin of his independent production.
